JR exhibits freely in the streets of the world, catching the attention of people who are not typical museum visitors. His work mixes Art and Act, talks about commitment, freedom, identity and limit. He directed the 28 millimeters series of projects (Portrait of a Generation, Face2Face, Women Are Heroes), The Wrinkles of the City, Unframed or Inside Out. JR has exhibited his work at Centre Pompidou, Tate Modern, Watari-Um in Tokyo, Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden or Power Station of Art in Shanghai.
Nowadays, in this studio, Voirin and Marinoni lithography presses that Picasso, Matisse, Miro, Chagall or Giacometti worked on are still in use. Contemporary artists such as Jean-Michel Alberola, Sophie Calle, Paul Mc Carthy, Liu Bolin or David Lynch are regulars of the atelier.
Atelier JR offers also a selection of books and films that focus on the artist's projects and help understand his approach.
